Our Philosophy

At Saplings, we believe that children are curious, capable learners who thrive in environments that are rich with wonder, challenge, and connection to the land. Our programs are rooted in the principles of nature-based education, guided by the BC Early Learning Framework and the First Peoples Principles of Learning. We honour a play-based, child-led approach where learning emerges organically through exploration, inquiry, and meaningful relationships—with people, place, and self.

Through compassionate teaching, strong community partnerships, and a team of dedicated, knowledgeable educators, Saplings offers a learning environment where children are not only prepared for the next stage of education, but for life. We grow thinkers, protectors, creators, and kind human beings. We grow saplings.

Here you will find our guiding principles for fostering children's development through nature-based learning. These principles reflect Saplings' commitment to nurturing a deep connection between children and the natural world, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and environmental stewardship.

Saplings integrates Indigenous knowledge, stories, and land-based practices into our daily learning experiences, ensuring that Truth, Healing, and Reconciliation are not just concepts but active, lived principles in our programming.
